中世語複合動詞の主体敬語の敬語形

大葉大学 ; Da-Yeh University ; 本稿は，中世語における複合動詞の主体敬語形の実態を明らかにした。中古語には前項と後項が敬語独立動詞になる「両項敬語形」がみられるが，中世語にはそのような形がみられない。中世語には，「敬語独立動詞＋動詞＋る・らる」のような，複合動詞の前項が敬語独立動詞になり，更に後項に敬意を表す助動詞を用いる「両項敬語形」があるが，中古語にはその形がみられない。従って，中古語と中世語では複合動詞の敬語形の用い方に差があると考えられる。そこで，中世語を中世前期と中世後期に分け，中世語にもみられる，中古語と同じ形の「一項敬語形」が中古語と同じ使い方であるかどうかについて確認した。その結果，中世語の複合動詞が敬語形になる場合，異なる形で敬意差を表し分けていることが分かった。中世前期では，2種類の敬語独立動詞を有する動詞は，より敬意が高い敬語独立動詞を用いる形と，一般的な敬語独立動詞を用いる形で敬意差を表す。1種類の敬語独立動詞しか有さない動詞は，「敬語独立動詞＋後項」に更に尊敬の助動詞を後接させる形と，「敬語独立動詞＋後項」や「前項＋後項＋る・らる」の形で敬意差を表す。中世後期では，2種類の敬語独立動詞を用いる複合動詞がみられない。1種類の敬語独立動詞しか有さない動詞は，「敬語独立動詞＋後項＋る・らる」や「前項＋後項＋せらる・させらる」と，「前項＋後項＋る・らる」の形で敬意差を表す。ただし，中世語の複合動詞の例数は多いが，複合動詞の敬語形の例数は少ない。複合動詞を敬語形にすることが減少したものと考えられる。 ; The purpose of this paper is to clarify the subject honorific form of compound verbs in Late Middle Japanese. For the present study, Late Middle Japanese was divided into two periods, first period and second period. Results show that when a compound verb in Late Middle Japanese becomes an honorific form, a different form is used to express differences in level (degree) of respect. The following was found for first-period Late Middle Japanese: Verbs having two types of honorific-independent verbs use one form when the honorific-independent verb expresses highlevel respect and another form when the honorific-independent verb shows a general level of respect. These two forms, then, each express a different level of respect. Verbs having only one type of honorific-independent verb express different levels of respect in two ways. The first form is "honorific-independent verb + second component," to which is further added an auxiliary verb of respect. The other expresses a different level of respect and takes the form of "honorific-independent verb + second component," or "first component + second component + ru." In second-period Late Middle Japanese, one no longer sees compound verbs that use two types of honorific-independent verbs. Here, we see the following verbs, which have only one type of honorific-independent verb and which show different levels of respect as follows: There is the "honorific-independent verb + second component + ru," or "first component + second component + seraru," and there is the "first component + second component + ru." However, although there are numerous examples of compound verbs in Late Middle Japanese, there are few examples of honorific form compound verbs. This is thought to be due to the disuse of honorific forms of compound verbs.
